Ex-Football Coach Accused of Operating Ponzi Scheme

Posted on Aug 04, 2011

Last month, Jim Donnan, a former head football coach at the University of Georgia and ESPN college football analyst, was accused of running a multimillion dollar Ponzi scheme.

According to documents filed in Ohio bankruptcy court, Mr. Donnan and his wife solicited investments from more than 50 investors to a company known as GLC Ltd. The Donnans reportedly made 15-20% off of each new investment they secured and are alleged to have made approximately $14.5 million dollars. The court documents accuse Mr. Donnan of being principally or substantially responsible in a Ponzi scheme that cost GLC Ltd investors more than $27 million.

Mr. Donnan's attorney has told the media that his client was not aware of the alleged Ponzi scheme.
