Arrest Made in Alleged Multistate Ponzi Scheme
Posted on Oct 19, 2011
A Colorado couple has been arrested in an alleged $17 million Ponzi scheme that may have affected investors in 13 states. The government alleges that Marie and Richard Dalton ran a business known as Universal Consulting Resources, LLC and guaranteed investors returns of 48 -120 percent on their investments. However, the government alleges that the couple was actually running an investment scam and not investing the money as promised. Instead, the government accuses the Daltons of using the money to purchase a home, a car, and pay for part of their daughter's wedding, among other things.
If convicted of the charges against them, the Daltons face up to 20 years in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine.
