Cincinnati Man Alleged Victim of Investment Scam
Tyrone Gilliams Jr. was arrested in an alleged multimillion dollar investment fraud scam on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011. The Manhattan US Attorney accused Mr. Gilliams of running a fraudulent investment scam that involved Treasury Strips, which are derivatives of US Treasury bonds.According to the allegations against Mr. Gilliams, he is accused of soliciting approximately $4 million from Cincinnati businessman David Parlin and misappropriating at least $2 million of that money. Specifically, authorities allege that Mr. Gilliams used $450,000 to refund money to a previous investor, put more than $218,000 in a real estate title company, and sent $1.6 million to Ghana to invest in a gold deal.
Mr. Gilliams is also accused of using investor money to fund a lavish lifestyle. Mr. Gilliams is the owner of TC Gilliams, LLC. He is also known as an online preacher, a hip hop event promoter, and a former starter for the University of Pennsylvania basketball team.
