Cincinnati Businessman Kirchoff Sentenced to 15 Years for Investment Fraud
Mark Kirchoff was sentenced on Nov. 22 to fifteen years in prison for defrauding ten investors out of more than $250,000, according to a Nov. 22 WLWT.com article. As discussed here, Kirchoff had pled guilty to securities fraud and to theft from the elderly earlier in November. Many of his victims were senior citizens; one was 90 years old and another lived with a disability.
Kirchoff was president of the Cincinatti-based G.K. Insurance & Financial. Originally arrested on Sept. 17, Kirchoff was accused by authorities of lying to investors by telling them he would purchase safe insurance policies, annuities, bonds and certificates of deposit and depositing the funds into his personal accounts instead.
His Nov. 4 guilty plea included six counts of third-degree theft from an elderly person, three counts of fourth-degree theft from an elderly person, one count of grand theft and one count of securities fraud, as reported by the WLWT.com article. His sentence could have been as long as 60 ½ years.
